Nganglam its economy and daylight robery

I know that i am living in one of the expensive economies of our country and its not a suprise at times to find the goods sold out here to be much more expensive than those being sold at the northern part of our country, although Nganglam is just situated on the border front. I haven't felt bad in any case because there was always some genuine hue and cry behind its status of being expensiveness.
What happened today was so silly, i don't know what should i call it? I was thinking of not misusing my office properties for my own benefit, thinking that i have decided to print my brother's project work from one of the printing services shop in the market. I didn't own a thumb drive so i have downloaded the project which was on my mail account. After i have downloaded and printed them. When i paid the charges for the printing, the staff of that shop calculated the rate of printing at Nu. 25/- per page of printing. Which at first i felt like a mockery but was genuine. What sort of chances they have taken on getting some opportunities.
I was thinking whole day distinguishing about the rate they have set up for just printing a black and white document, which is downloaded and the same type of document which is not downloaded, where the later is charged just Nu. 10/. What type of analogy they have used to determine these rates. Although the rate of Nu. 10/- for printing a single page is also absorbic.
Sometimes i feel that these is one of the type of daylight robbery in very well mechanized strategy. Or is that they are enjoying the outcome of the monopoly.

Socialism not necessarily be born out of education

One night I had a very bitter experience. Which couldn't be easily digested, having seen by my own eyes. I was tremendously shattered, had it been better if it was heard. But then it had taught me much greater lessons and also broadened the way of my thought was.
In proceeding with the age old tradition, at the dusk when all rituals conducted by choeps (religious practitioners) concludes the rituals of laymen begins (traditional dances). Likewise on the dusk my lochoe (annual ritual), I was dancing (traditional dances) with my relatives and the flocks of guest that were present during the lochoe. All of us were making fun. In time to time drinks (ara; locally brewed wine) and fruits were served for dancers and audiences as well; it was complemented by hot teas and snacks for the teetotallers. It was very late and almost every drinkers were drunk.
The guest has started to move back to their residences. At that instant I saw one woman was hugging and kissing with a man to thank him for his presence. I wasn't sure whether others noticed or not because it was in a shadowed place and on top of that there wasn't much who has abstained from drinks  of me. But I was embarrassed having seen their unethical acts. I kept myself blinded by facing away from the scene.
The dance was concluded with the melodious Tashi labey led by the legendary nightingale of  my village (Taktse)  "Aum Langamo" with the words of wishes for "peace, prosperity and success for the year and to be able to gather at the same place, same occassion of the year followed ".
After having all the guest left, We the family members sat in round and chatted over the fun we had. But I have never mentioned about the fishy incident I have seen nor any one could utter a word about it. It seems they haven't seen it or must be hiding within like me.
Then all of us left for our heavenly bed with tired body but with relaxed mind after having done our part for the year. That night I had to recollect the scene and rationalize about their deeds. The woman is a mother of four though she doesn't seem to be. The eldest being almost at my age, the scene that woman created is barely in acceptance of the age old society of my village. This might look casual had it been her daughters, Who are educated and oriented in similar scenarios. Whereas she is purely a village girl; born, brought up and living in the village. Then I compared it with me and I hardly find myself giving hugs to my female friends. Even if I do so, I do it with much discomfort in my mind. As afore mentioned I never did it, not even during my college days. Then finding or having a memory of such during my schools were a baseless.
My final conclusion was that to socialize or to practice a new culture, formal school education is not required. I am a graduate with a well respected job and still i don't feel good to go for such actions. In such cases we can be influenced by our surrounding people even if we are not able to read and write, as in this case. Now I think the woman has been influenced by the society erupted from  ILCS and the Higher Secondary school.
I know who the woman was, still might be mystery and I like to remain it as undisclosed. I plea for those who knew about it to remain within so it wouldn't embarrass whole of the society.

Eternal Bus service from Gelephu-Zhemgang-Trongsa-Bumthang

Recently i took leave from my workplace to attend annual ritual at my paternal's home at Trongsa. In the evening of the day afore to the day of my journey; I went to get a ticket at the Bus terminal but only to see my self disgraced for not being able to obtain one. At the Six in the morning again I rushed to the terminal hoping for someone to have cancelled their joourney. But these was another disgrace. I requested the Driver if he could take me on standing but he was very strictly complying with the Transport regulations.
I wasn't left with very much options, so i waited and requested Zhemgang Bus Driver to take me on standing. I thought i will spend a night with my paternal aunt and then move next morning towards Trongsa along with her family. He reluctantly accepted me. The Bus started to move at 8:00am, I was standing with all seats being packed by the passengers. The Bus was too old enough to run on the inclined Roads of our country. It took nearly two hours for which normal driving hour is about an hour. I think for the same with the Buses plying towards Bumthang, Trongsa and Panthang from Gelephu because all of them seems to be equally old. At 11am it reached somewhere near Chaplechu (approx. 55km from Gelephu).
At that Place I saw a Taxi at the back. Then and there; my mindset got changed and told the Bus driver if he could stop and ask the Taxi for its destination. He did as i told him to and to my relieve for the thirst of reaching the home at the earliest the Taxi was going towards Trongsa. I got off the bus and loaded to that Taxi. In the Taxi I came to knew three of my Country mates. A villager, his daughter and a neighbour. On reaching Tinitibi we got another group booking onto the Taxi.
I Called the Driver of Trongsa Bus to keep in touch with his location on reaching Langthel. He told me on phone that he was passing by Refey. When I reached Samchoeling, I found the Bus to be passing through Kuenga Rabten. Our Taxi over took the Bus and found that Bus was travelling at Snail's pace.
I reached home and waited for the Bus to arrive to collect my baggages and parcels which I loaded with the Bus at Gelephu.
At night I was thinking about the over packed Buses and the reason for it. Then i came to knew that the bus was plying through the route on the alternate days. Then I could reach to the conclusion that the people might be stranded in a place.
Now the resolution could be to start with Buses plying through these routes on daily basis as its with any other route. If we are still doubting with the insufficiency of the passengers we can always try to come down to the smaller buses like coasters. I am so sure that our passengers can afford to travel in coaster buses, when they are able to afford Taxies.
The lifestyle of our passengers has drastically improved but on the other hand the style of earning of our public Tansport owners has been dated back to century old (greedy type).

The Problem of My Career

Today I am working as a Chemist for our country's largest manufacturing Company (Dungsam Cement Corporation ltd.). It was once my dream to be one and fulfilled it by being one. While i was at college I always followed the path for being it. I have almost neglected every thing i had in hand to grab the opportunity to become someone other than the one i am being today. I wasn't bothered about any other thing and wasn't interested to do so.
When i was at college i always used to think that once i am in a career field I would perform my duty with perfection. This was the major drawback or the demerit  i have got as a student. The effect of such thought let me to pass my time without much interest in the duty i am supposed to do (to study as a student then). I always hovered the campus i lived in with this mindsets.
Finally in June 2012, i have graduated from the institute of "Peak of Learning" (Sherubtse College) with difficulty bringing average grades. Then i was stationed in the Capital city of our country. There i had a very large flock competing with each other to land in a small space created for us.
I had to try out my capability with these heads and had to go through dramatic situations. I tried my luck to vie for a civil service job. I was ranked in the eligibility list. At that instant i used to think that our life is comfortable with a job. I highly desired for being employed.
Before i could enter into the civil service i tried my hand in My present company. I was selected and was offered the current post. The desire in me to get employed brought to this place. At the beginning i was such sincere with the every single moment. this is because i was much entrusted with the responsibility i have thought for so long.
Now today with almost an year of experience, my tendency or attitude towards the duty is drastically slipping out. I think this is common for everyone, as we tend to get fed up when we are in same situation for so long.
Now today i realize that life is wondrous only "when you are learning not when you are earning".

RCSC Should Increase the Intake for PGDPA and PGDFM course

It is from the time immemorial or since the establishment of the Royal Institute of Management that RCSC has been sending 36 graduates each to get trained in Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Financail Management. This slot was a very good number when there was graduates appearing for this exam lesser than the slot given. During those days hardly any graduate were left out from being not selected. Even if it did, it was of their choice or couldnot make upto the base line. But over the years, the number of graduates kept on increasing and the slot remained as a fixed constant value. At this the time the number of graduates has increased by more than ten folds but the number of slots has never tried to show an increment in it.
Now I think its the right time and decision if RCSC could enthusiastically give a look with sympathy on this slot.

Our attitude changing to Culture

In this 21st century we have adapted to a new culture and it seems this is the change influenced by the changing nature of the time. Now days we have adopted to an attitude where we are interested in making a high expenditure. We want all the comforts that are enjoyed by the high-class family. Our attitude so much of embarrassing that we want to make high expenditure with very low source of income or earning. We desire for the comfort that to the level of the high-class family. we don't understand that luxurious donot come with an easy time or in over night. we have never thought that the life high class people are enjoying is all due to the work hard of their forefathers. We are mocking at ourselves by desiring for comfortable life with limited income. It will be either sensible to make such decisions if we are one among the working hard individuals. But the situation now is quite different, we are looking for the comfort without doing any job. We want to drive in SUV's and Landi's without any suffering. If we think practically how can we be able to think of such things. As commanded by our His Majesty the 5th Druk Gyalpo on 106th National Day celebration (december 17, 2013), "We Bhutanese are able to do anything, the only thing that makes difference if whether we do it or not". The only way to overcome such thoughts will be through easy money making, such as corruption, scandal, robbery, e.t.c. If we rationalize it properly, this is also not going to help because this way we may not have the psychological well-being. So i think the only solution to this changing attitude is we have to stop our "changing attitude" and try to put our sweat to harness the desire we seek for.

Education Loan, who avails it

Today or the the present government's initiative of net cent percent primary enrollment is an remarkable deed for this generation. It will be a good foundation for the success of achieving GNH.
But there will be certain clauses which will hamper in the fulfillment of the ideas of GNH. Our constitution grants the right for basic education, which we might say till tenth level. All of our kids get education till tenth level. Then what will be the scenario behind this level. Some gets qualified for govt. high school, some for private and some land up in searching job.
Again another round of selection hits at 12th level and some more lands up in the job market. This will be supplying more number of Lesly opportunist people in the job market, thereby increasing the number of unemployment. Which is a one of the measure our present government wants to take.
Till tenth level our kids get studied by the opportunity provided by the government, after that i think we should give a chance to those who lack opportunity of extending the government's free education support. And the same thing for those who are with such situation after the 12th level.
Yes we have lots of ways to get our education. In order to tackle this problem most of our present financial institution have come up with different policies of "education loan". But one thing is common in all of these policies. If you want to avail the education loan you need collateral, and what are these collateral? These are mostly the immovable properties, that too in the boundary of the municipality. Yes they need to have these collateral because they can't take risk on the public money.
But if we go on with these trend then how many of our kids with their family in remote areas get chance to avail such facilities. It will be benefiting only the haves. what about the have nots? At one point i feel monotonous with such policy because will there product get sold in the market with such policies. I am sure that people who have money of their own won't take the banks money to facilitate their kids education. Then who all will be the beneficiaries.
These policy cant be altered because as stated above banks cannot risk on pubic money. But to get equal opportunity for all, I think our government can intervene in the picture by providing the collateral for those have nots. which  haven't been done as of now.
If our government does this then there will be more of win-win situations. There will be lesser unemployment rate, faster rate of poverty alleviation and some how it will solve currency deficit problem. Think what happens when our kids study more and get employed in abroad. At the same time our country's economy also boosts up.
i have requested about this to many of our parliamentarians but i haven't got any answer from any. hope this piece might do something
